Of Burnaby, was born in the township of Wainfleet in 1861, the son of William. Hill, a native of Northumberland, England, who came to Canada in the early fifties. He was educated in the public schools and was early apprenticed as a carpenter. For the past 23 years he has followed the occupation of contractor and builder, in which he has experienced an ever-increasing success. He also conducts a farm of 50 acres at Burnaby. Mr. Hill is a member of the Church of England and in politics is a Conservative. He served on the Township Council in 1899, 1900 and 1901, and was elected Reeve by acclamation for the years 1902, 1903 and 1904. In the election this year for the reeveship he defeated Major John Barwell by a majority of 303. [show more]

John Reeb was born in Alsace, France (now Germany), on Nov. 21st, 1832. He came to Canada in 1848 and started life as a farmer, his sole resources being his conception of business requirements combined with energy and perseverence. To-day he is President of the Welland County Lime Works Co., of the Producers and Mutual Natural Gas Companies, and of the Imperial Plaster Co, Toronto, and is one of the most extensive and wealthiest business men of the county. His first and probably best business venture was the lime works, which were started in 1853, when Mr. Reeb burned his first lime over a brush pile. Mr. Reeb's sons are associated with him in the various businesses, and all have beautiful homes in and near Port Colborne. Mr. Reeb and his good wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year. [show more]

Was born in the Town of Thorold. Welland County, on April 27th, 1861, the son of John Battle, who died in the year 1891 at the age of 67 years. Mr. Battle has filled the position of Councillor, Reeve and Mayor of his native town, and was Evan E. Fraser's opponent in the late contest in Welland County for the Local Legislature. He is a prominent contractor, and among other important works he built the masonry of the Alexandra bridge in the Town of Welland.
