Text reads:

Was born in Wainfleet Township, Oct. 4th, 1857. He is a son of the late John Clarkson, who came to Canada from England in 1840. The subject of this sketch lived in Wainfleet until 1873, when he moved to Crowland and purchased the William Hill farm, a valuable property in that township. He has also taken an active interest in political affairs, and is well versed on the local and Dominion issues. In 1885 he was collector for Crowland and the following year was assessor, and has held the same office several times since. He served as councillor in 1902-3, and last year as reeve. He will be a candidate for the reeveship again. His father also served in the township council.
