James A. Ross was born in St. Ann's, January 13, 1869. He was a son of William N. Ross, and received his education in the Smithville Public and High Schools, and later in the St. Catharines Collegiate Institute. He secured a teacher's certificate and taught school in Monck County and the City of St. Thomas. Some years ago he organized the co-operative store in Wellandport, known as the Empire Store, and managed that until six years ago, when he resigned to accept the nomination of the Conservative party for the County of Monck. At the last general election for the Legislature he fought a good fight against the Hon. R. Harcourt, and he is again in the field ready for the next contest. At present he is Inspector for the Excelsior Life Insurance Co. of Toronto.
