Evan Fraser was born in Thorold, March 15, 1865. He lived there for many years, receiving his education at Thorold Public and High Schools. Although he has changed his place of residence several times, he has never lived outside of Welland County. For several years he has lived at Niagara Falls South, his business being public work and contracting. In 1899-1900-1 he was a Councillor for Niagara Falls Village and last year just after the amalgamation of the Town and Village of Niagara Falls he was a candidate for the mayoralty of the new city against Mayor Hanan and ex-Mayor McCartney. He was defeated by 16 votes in a warm contest. Mr. Fraser has for years been a prominent Conservative worker, and he has several times been spoken of as a candidate for parliamentary honors.
