Was born in the Township of Crowland on January 26, 1850. He is the youngest son of the late Thomas Griffith of that Township. Thirty-one years ago Mr. Griffith started business in Welland, and he has been very successful in all his undertakings. He has amassed considerable property and is one of the hardest workers and busiest men in the county. In public matters he has for years been a prominent figure. Six years he served on the public school board, and one year on the high school board. In 1893 be was deputy reeve of Welland, and mayor of the town in 1897. In 1901-2 he served as county commissioner, occupying the warden's chair in 1902. He has always taken an active interest in the County Agricultural Society, and is a keen lover of good horse flesh. At the present time he is chairman of the County Conservative Executive.
