Considered one of the best ever hockey players from Welland, Trent learned to skate on the Welland River and was the star player of the Welland Falcons when they won the Ontario juvenile hockey championship in 1945. He also played junior hockey with the Detroit Red Wings and was teammates with Gordie Howe and Terry Sawchuck. Trent died in 2013 at age 87.
