Text reads:

E. W. Fares, was born in Humberstone Township, November 18th, 1834. He was educated in the township public schools and, after attaining manhood, took up farming, in which he has been successful. He has always lived in Humberstone and years ago won the esteem of the electors of the township. For three years he was Assessor. In 1863 he was elected Councillor, and was Reeve in 1878, '92, '93, '94. '95 and '96. In 1895 he also held the position of Warden of the County. In 1899 and 1900 he was County Commissioner, and since then has been Reeve again. The last three times he was elected by acclamation. During his life he has been a staunch Conservative and his public life has been a credit to himself and his party.
