Text reads:

Mr. Carey was born in Welland in 1872, and received his education in this town. He first entered business as a clerk with Mr. D. D. Hoover in the grocery business in Welland. In 1901 he went to Fort Erie in a similar capacity, but soon after embarked in business for himself. He has been most successful, and has considerable property interests in Fort Erie. He has always taken a deep interest in sports, and of recent years has become affiliated with many of the best sporting men of America. His geniality and liberal manner has won him many friends.
