L. Clark Raymond was born in Welland on October 7, 1867. He received his education at the Welland High School, and studied law with his father, the late L. D. Raymond. In 1886 he was called to the bar, and for some years he has been the senior member of the firm of Raymond & Cohoe. He has always taken an active interest in the militia, and in 1897 was appointed Colonel of the 44th Batt. Two years later he retired from the command of the regiment and is now on the militia reserve of officers.
