Description:Handwritten note by Trent Anderson of Welland, reminiscing about growing up in Welland and his hockey career. He mentions Welland High School, the Welland Falcons, The Welland-Crowland Combines, and the Crowland Bisons.
Considered one of the best ever hockey players from Welland, Trent learned to skate on the Welland River and was the star player of the Welland Falcons when they won the Ontario juvenile hockey championship in 1945. He also played junior hockey with the Detroit Red Wings and was teammates with Gordie Howe and Terry Sawchuck.
This note was sent as a letter to the editor of the Welland Tribune. Undated, possibly around 2000-2010. Trent died in 2013 at age 87. [show more]

Description:Newspaper clipping about how Steve Bauer was welcomed home by family and friends at the Royal Bank in Fenwick. Fans lined up to congratulate Bauer on his past cycling season in Europe. Marion Wright, then 16, said she collects newspaper clippings of Bauer. The photograph shows Bauer signing an autograph for 6-year-old Joshua Boudreau. Bauer also discusses the controversy on his last race, with the Belgian cyclist Claude Criquillon crashing and then sued Bauer for $1.5 million in damages. A few years later a Belgian judge decided the case in Bauer's favour. [show more]
