The captioned text reads: "Four employees of the CNR are shown inspecting a locomotive of the 80's, part of the museum train that will be on display at the CNR freight yards, East Main Street until Wednesday. The workers are John Last, Port Robinson; Bruce Lilley, Port Robinson; John Cooper, Welland; Henry Cowell, Port Robinson. The train is made up of six cars and three locomotives, all of which have been restored in the original appearance, except for the baggage cars which now house display items - Tribune photo." Description:On May 30, 1953 The Evening Tribune published an entire issue dedicated to the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. There were photos and stories from London and of Welland residents who visited there to watch the coronation. Banners reading “Long live the Queen” were strung across Main Street with parades along with a ceremony in Chippawa Park. [show more]

There is a parking lot where the Division Street Bridge will later be constructed in 1980.
The slide is part of a photographic record of 600 images to document the construction work undertaken to expand the Carnegie building in 1974 and 1975. The library had become too small to house a growing collection and to serve the growing population of Welland. [show more]
