Title
Welland County Library
Description
The Welland County Library Association operated from March 20, 1946 to the spring of 1971. It was a cooperative scheme of book-buying with the aim of providing a book service to rural communities in Welland County where there were no established libraries. They provided book deliveries and later operated a bookmobile.
The first location was in the Niagara Falls Public Library. Later a room was obtained in the Children's Reception Centre on South Pelham Road in Welland. Finally the building that became their home was constructed at 650 South Pelham Road in 1954. This building later operated as the Northwest Branch of the Welland Public Library from 1972 to 2009.
