Painted in 1989 by Risto Turunen of Lambeth, ON, at 285 East Main Street (formerly YMCA building, facing Division Street), 59' X 20'.

This mural features the history of education in Welland. Risto painted faces taken from local historical photographs. The school teacher dates back to the late 1890s. The school building is Central Public School, which opened in 1900 and was located on Division Street (on what is now the Market Square parking lot). The first principal, Mr. Dowkes, is portrayed in 1903. The students attended Aqueduct and Maple Leaf Schools about 1925. Cheerleaders and a football player are from a 1959 Welland High yearbook.

Painted in 1988 by David More of Red Deer, AB, at 1 Niagara Street (formerly Welland Hotel), 18' X 14'.

This mural features three images: a street car scene, a conductor and four horses racing to the finish line in a race at the Welland Fair, around 1920. The artist said that the Welland County Fair was a long-time highlight in the Niagara Peninsula, and fair-goers would come from far and wide to attend the annual event, many riding on the inter-urban railway that ran alongside the fairgrounds.

Painted in 1988 by Paul Elliott of Toronto, ON, at 285 East Main Street (formerly YMCA building), 3 panels at 327 square feet.

The Mike Burwell Memorial Triathlon, an annual Welland event, is depicted in this 3 panel mural. The annual race attracted 300-400 competitors every summer. It folded in 2005. From left to right the viewer captures the intensity of the runner, cyclist and swimmer. The second file is a close-up of the first panel, which shows the athletes running by the mural on the YMCA building, the result being a mural within a mural.

The mural appears to have been painted over or removed between 2014-2015.

Painted in 1990 by Risto Turunen of Lambeth, ON, at 57 Division Street (formerly Columbus Hall), 16' X 16'.

The image of four men on horseback is based on a photo of the "Welland Canal Force" of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment guarding the Welland Canal. The soldier on the left is based on a photo of a local Welland soldier. The lower left corner is based on the image of a group of women in front of a streetcar promoting the patriotic fund drive. The soldiers looking out the windows are among the troops departing from the Welland Junction train station.

It was removed and relocated to the Welland Museum sometime before 2007.

Painted in 1988 by Dan Sawatzky of Chemainus, BC, at 225 East Main Street, 50' X 20'.

The mural illustrates the arrival of immigrants in Welland about 1910, with a grandfather telling his grandson what is was like being an immigrant in southern Ontario.

The mural was originally painted on the old Firestone building on East Main in 1988, but shortly after the building was purchased by the Atlas and Civic Employees' Credit Union who then wanted to reconstruct and refurbish the building. The mural was moved at great effort and expense, due to a fundraising initiative by the Welland Festival of Arts. Shoalts Construction performed the move, as seen in the bottom two files, to a parking lot on 225 East Main that they owned. It is now a free standing wall not affixed to a building.
