Rudy Pilous, a close friend of Morrison's, achieved fame as coach of the Chicago Blackhawks, winning the Stanley Cup with them in 1961. He lived in St. Catharines in his later years and died there in 1994. He is buried in the Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Conn Smythe, in addition to his ownership of the Toronto Maple Leafs, also had business interests in horse racing, and may have had been attending to watch his own team.
